MONAHRQ 1.0 Fact Sheet

My Own Network, Powered by AHRQ

MONAHRQ is downloadable computer software that enables organizations to input their own hospital administrative data and generate a datadriven Web site. How you use MONAHRQ is up to you—your data on your Web site.

What does MONAHRQ do?

MONAHRQ software analyzes, summarizes, and presents information on:

  • quality of care at the hospital level,
  • health care utilization at the hospital level,
  • preventable hospitalizations at the county level, and
  • rates of conditions and procedures at the county level.

Who can use MONAHRQ?

State and local data organizations, hospital associations, Chartered Value Exchanges, health plans, providers, and others can use MONAHRQ. As long as you have hospital administrative data, you can use MONAHRQ.

How can MONAHRQ be used?

MONAHRQ can be used to meet data analysis and reporting needs and to better understand health care in areas and hospitals. You can use MONAHRQ in many ways. You can:

  • Generate reports and statistics you use internally within your organization.
  • Create a limited-access Web site for member organizations.
  • Produce an open-access Web site for consumers and other decisionmakers to compare facilities in an area or to present health care outcomes in a geographic region.

How does MONAHRQ work?

Any organization with hospital administrative data can use MONAHRQ to generate a Web site for internal use or public release.

MONAHRQ is based on and incorporates several of AHRQ’s most popular tools:

  • AHRQ Quality Indicators (QIs)
  • HCUPnet
  • Win QI (Windows-based QI analytic system)
  • Clinical Classification Software
  • AHRQ QI reporting template
  • Preventable hospitalization costs mapping tool

You can download MONAHRQ to your own computer, populate it with your own hospital administrative data, perform all analyses locally, and then generate your own Web site.

The Web site created by MONAHRQ contains thousands of HTML pages that summarize information in tables and maps. It also includes an interactive query tool that users can navigate to access the HTML pages and learn about health care in their area.
