Step 1

Download MONAHRQ user guides.

Installation Guide: This document provides detailed instructions on how to install MONAHRQ 2.0.3.

Permissions Guide: This document provides detailed instructions on how to set the permissions for your computer and SQL server database to use MONAHRQ.
  • MONAHRQ Permissions Guide (PDF file, 276 KB; PDF Help).
Host User Guide: This document provides detailed instructions on how to load your data into MONAHRQ and generate a reporting Website. We strongly recommend that you closely follow the MONAHRQ Host User Guide.

Measure List: This Excel document provides a concise listing of all of the measures available in MONAHRQ.


Step 2

Install Microsoft.NET 2.0 Framework if not currently installed. Save and run the correct version based on your system (32- or 64-bit).

Step 3

Install Microsoft SQL Server Express if not currently installed and you do not have access to a networked SQL database server. Save and run the correct version based on your system (32 or 64 bit).

Step 4

Install the AHRQ Quality Indicator Risk Adjustment program. Save and run the file.

Step 5

Install MONAHRQ, save, and run the file.

Step 6

Optional: Download one file containing inpatient quality measure results from CMS Hospital Compare. You should download this data here, not from the Hospital Compare website. It is the same data, reformatted to use in MONAHRQ. Updated files are available quarterly. If you would like an older version of the Hospital Compare data, please contact MONAHRQ Technical Support.
  • April 2011 Hospital Compare file (ZIP file, 31 MB)
    This file contains the following data:
    • Mortality and readmissions measure results for July 2006 through June 2009.
    • Process of care measure results for April 2009 through June 2010.
    • HCAHPS survey results for April 2009 through June 2010.
  • December 2010 Hospital Compare file (ZIP file, 24 MB)
    This file contains the following data:
    • Mortality and readmissions measure results for July 2006 through June 2009.
    • Process of care measure results for April 2009 through March 2010.
    • HCAHPS survey results for April 2009 through March 2010.
  • September 2010 Hospital Compare file (ZIP file, 19 MB)
    This file contains the following data:
    • Mortality and readmissions measure results for July 2006 through June 2009.
    • Process of care measure results for January 2009 through December 2009.
    • HCAHPS survey results for January 2009 through December 2009.
  • June 2010 Hospital Compare file (ZIP file, 22 MB)
    This file contains the following data:
